About Me

Hi, I’m Mitch. I’m a contented retiree, husband, father, grandfather, dog parent, and passionate artisan bread maker, living in rural Lincolnshire.

My bread making began 14 years ago as an enjoyable hobby. I started baking in my kitchen a few times a week for people I knew in the local community of Heckington.

What’s more, making bread helps keep me fit and active.

I love creating new recipes and am committed to making bread using traditional methods and high-quality ingredients – you won’t find any preservatives or chemical nasties in my bakes.

Indeed, my love for breadmaking is the result of a cardiac arrest in 2010. When chatting to a kindly nurse about my recovery, it quickly became apparent that my days of golfing and horse riding – both of which I loved to do at the time – were over. She suggested kneading dough as a low-intensity, heart-friendly alternative, and I haven’t looked back.

Although, I’ve learned a lot since my early days of making bread. After leaving the hospital I spent three months baking. I was dedicated and made enough to build a bungalow – all of it inedible!

But, every time I bake, I learn something new.

Back then, I was proud to master the art of baking one type of bread. Now I can make more than 130 different types, and I’m constantly looking for new ideas. From classic crusty cobs and herby-infused loaves, to chocolate covered Easter specials, there’s nothing I won’t try my hand at.

My personal favourite is a rustic rye eaten warm from the oven and covered in a thick layer of butter…

So, now that I’ve got your tastebuds tingling, why not head over to the Contact Me page and register to see what I will be baking next and to place an order for your first bake?

As demand for “Mitch’s bread” in the village has grown, I’m keen to supply more people in the local community and surrounding villages.

I know you’ll fall in love with my traditional artisan breads.

No preservatives, no artificial flavourings, just delicious bespoke recipes.
